A basic income is the foundation of a sustainable economy and healthier society for everyone. It is:

Urgent - Inequality and poverty soared during the pandemic, showing that our patchwork of programs is unfair and leaves too many behind. Canada must do better. 

Effective - Income guarantees for seniors and parents already exist. They’ve been proven to strengthen people, communities, and the economy. The Canada Emergency Response Benefit’s rapid cash was a lifeline for individuals and the country. A permanent basic income will work even better. 

Affordable - Canada has enough to make sure everyone has enough. The status quo harms people…and costs billions. Basic income is a sound investment in people with pay-offs in better health, social justice, the green transition, caring, creativity, education, entrepreneurship and innovation.
